The Beheading Game by Rebecca Lehmann
Just released in March 2026, Rebecca's novel is a darkly comic, fantastical reimagining of Anne Boleyn’s life after her execution—except she wakes up, sews her head back on, and escapes the Tower. Determined to stop Henry VIII from marrying Jane Seymour and threatening her daughter Elizabeth’s future, Anne embarks on a dangerous journey through Tudor England with an unlikely companion. Along the way, the novel blends Tudor history, magic, Arthurian legend, and a feminist critique of the ways outspoken women have been punished and silenced. Rebecca is an award-winning poet and essayist, currently working as an associate professor of English and Gender and Women’s Studies at Saint Mary’s College.
